What is the CyberTipline?

The Congressionally mandated CyberTipline is a reporting mechanism for cases of child sexual exploitation including child pornography, online enticement of children for sex acts, molestation of children outside the family, sex tourism of children, child victims of prostitution, and unsolicited obscene material sent to a child. Reports may be made 24-hours per day, 7 days per week online at www.cybertipline.com or by calling 1-800-843-5678.

Child protection

Child protection is used to describe a set of government and private services designed to protect children and encourage family stability. These typically include investigation of alleged child abuse (including child sexual abuse and neglect ("child protective services"), foster care, adoption services, and services aimed at supporting at-risk families so they can remain intact ("prevention services" or "family preservation services"). Especially in poorer countries where the government infrastructure is much weaker many Non-governmental organizations, for example Casa Alianzain Central America.

- Put your children's emergency identification (name, address, phone number) on their clothes.
- Teach your children your home phone number and to how call 911 if there is an emergency.
- Agree on a specific time when children must return home.
- Contact law enforcement authorities immediately if there is any suspicious or unlawful activity.

Child abuse is the physical, emotional or sexual abuse or neglect of children by parents or guardians. While most child abuse happens in the child's home, large numbers of cases of child abuse have been identified within some organizations involving children, such as churches, schools, child care businesses, and residential schools.It also can occur almost anywhere (eg. kidnappings, random murders etc.)
Children's Online Privacy Protection Act

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA) is a United States federal law, located at 15 U.S.C. § 6501–6506 (Pub.L. 105-277, 112 Stat. 2581-728, enacted 1998-10-21). (COPPA is sometimes confused with COPA, the Child Online Protection Act, which concerns the exposure of children to online pornography and which was declared unconstitutional and remains under injunction.)
